Introduction
Mepo Pty Ltd ACN 142 886 584 (we, us, our) operates LitiGauge, a software service for Australian barristers. We are committed to handling your personal information responsibly and transparently.
While our current annual turnover is under $3 million and we are not required to comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), we have chosen to adopt the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) as the standard for how we handle personal information. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose that information.
1. What Personal Information We Collect
We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for us to provide the LitiGauge service. This includes:
- your name and email address when you register for an account;
- billing information (processed securely through our payment provider — we do not store your full card details);
- professional information such as your chambers address and ABN that you provide for invoice templates; and
- practice data you enter into the application, including matter names, time entries, invoice records, and file notes.
We collect this information directly from you. We do not collect personal information from third parties or use automated decision-making in a way that affects you.
2. How We Use Your Personal Information
We use your personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected, or for directly related purposes you would reasonably expect. These include:
- providing and operating the LitiGauge software service;
- processing payments and issuing tax invoices;
- communicating with you about your account, including service notices and support;
- improving the software and fixing defects; and
- complying with our legal obligations.
We will not use your personal information for direct marketing without your consent.
3. Disclosure of Personal Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may disclose your personal information to third parties only in the following circumstances:
- Payment processing: your billing information is passed to our payment processor to complete transactions.
- Xero integration: if you choose to connect your Xero account, we share invoice data with Xero on your instruction. We do not store your Xero credentials.
- Cloud infrastructure: your data is stored on servers operated by Amazon Web Services located in Sydney, Australia.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information where required by law or by order of a court or tribunal.
- Acquisiton: we are acquired and assign our interest in your end user licence agreement.
We do not disclose your personal information to any overseas recipients except required by law or where you have directed us to (for example, if your payment processor operates overseas infrastructure).
4. Storage and Security
Your data is stored on servers located in Sydney, Australia and never leaves Australia. Each subscriber's data is held in a completely private store, isolated from all other accounts.
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access. These steps include encrypted communications, two-factor authentication options, and regular backups.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Retention of Personal Information
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet our legal and accounting obligations. When personal information is no longer needed, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
6. Access and Correction
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete. We will respond to such requests within a reasonable time.

In limited circumstances we may decline a request for access or correction, in which case we will explain why in writing.
7. Complaints
If you believe we have not handled your personal information in accordance with this policy, please contact us at hello@litigauge.com. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 30 days.

We do not currently use third-party analytics services that collect personal information.
